Our Opinion of the Ansmann ALCT 12-3

The Ansmann ALCT 12-3 is a high quality 2 stage charger for all types of Lead Acid batteries that have a capacity of between 3 and 60Ah, it will be fine on higher capacity batteries too, but may take quite a long time to charge up from flat.

It is a very neat desk-top style of charger, is much more compact than most lead acid battery chargers and comes complete with 2 types of battery connecting leads. The first is a standard "Crocodile Clip" and the second is spade terminal connection, ideal for more permanent installations.

It has all the usual protection against reverse polarity, overload and short-circuit, and can take an input of 100-240V AC - ideal if travelling.

The Ansmann ALCT 12-3 has 2 output voltage stages - 14.7V whilst fast charging and 13.8V when in standby (trickle) charge mode. This output voltage control is essential for protecting the long term health of lead acid batteries.

One of the best features of the Ansmann ALCT 12-3 is its ability to be left connected to a battery, even whilst other equipment is connected. When the battery voltage drops, the charger will automatically start to recharge the battery again. This makes it ideal for more permanent applications like caravans, boats and even vehicles that are stored for extended periods of time (classic cars, motorbikes etc)
