Our Opinion Of The Tamrac 5546 Adventure 6 Photo Backpack

The Tamrac 5546 Adventure 6 uniquely combines a fully functional camera bag with the usual foam pillars, dividers and pockets, with a very comfortable day-pack/backpack in a single bag. It is a brilliant design, allowing you to take everything with you in one bag, but essentially keeping each function completely separate.

As a camera bag the 5546 has a large main compartment which incorporates good protective padding, several dividers and flaps making it easily big enough for a Film or Digital SLR camera, a flash gun and a couple or extra lenses. This main compartment is accessed with a double zipper which is protected by a weather flap to keep the elements out. There is a large front pocket (also protected by a weather flap) for all those extra films, memory cards, or any other items you may want access to quickly. There are also 2 mesh pockets on the side big enough for a drinks bottle and some snacks etc.

Further Information

The top section of the Adventure 6 has a single compartment large enough for a light jacket and perhaps some lunch, and a full width mesh pocket for other personal items. The front of the mesh pocket incorporates an S.A.S. Loop for attaching the optional S.A.S. Products.

As a backpack, the Tamrac 5546 Adventure 6 is extremely comfortable whether it is is carried casually over one shoulder (thanks partly to the non-slip material on the inside of the shoulder strap), or in full backpack mode. The Adventure 6 also includes a waist strap and chest strap to ensure complete security and comfort when carried as a backpack, with each shoulder strap also incorporating an S.A.S. Loop.

All in all, the Tamrac 5546 Adventure 6 is a superb bag that we like very much, it should be ideal for anyone wanting to carry more than just their camera gear.

The Tamrac 5546 Adventure 6 is a smaller version of the Tamrac 5547 Adventure 7 offering the same features but with a smaller capacity.

Tamrac Description of the 5546 Adventure 6 Photo Backpack

This ultra-sleek and compact backpack carries and protects a digital or film SLR (such as Canon's 20D or Nikon's D70s) with a lens attached, an additional lens, a small flash and accessories.

The new Adventure 6 features a youthful, modern and sleek design that, for security, does not look like a camera bag. In this uniquely designed backpack, the lower section is a completely foam-padded camera bag compartment, while the upper section functions like a traditional backpack to hold a light jacket, lunch or other personal items needed on your next photo adventure. The front pocket features Tamrac's patented Memory & Battery Management System™ that uses red flags to identify which memory cards and batteries are available. The foam-padded camera compartment has a weather flap and quick-release buckle for security and weather protection. Two mesh pockets on the sides provide quick access to accessories and water bottles. Two lash tabs on the bottom of the backpack can accommodate a compact tripod (requires accessory straps). Also features Tamrac's Strap Accessory System™ attachment points for customizing with optional S.A.S.™ products.
